The Carnegie Club St Andrews

The Carnegie Club of St Andrews is a student-run organisation at the University of St Andrews, in St Andrews, Scotland.

We are committed to upholding the values of Scottish-American businessman and philanthropist Andrew Carnegie: education, entrepreneurship, philanthropy, and peace.

We align with these values through our shared passion for meaningful discussion about current ethical, political, and societal questions with which we engage through our dinner debates, speaker events, and community outreach initiatives.

Founded in 2010, the Club hosts a variety of high-profile leaders from all backgrounds and industries around the world, aiming to facilitate discussion on pressing topics and to provide students the opportunity to learn about academic and career development across a diverse range of fields.

As a student run society, our members are naturally in the learning stage of their life. By fostering debates and encouraging discourse into multi faceted subjects beyond lecture material, the club helps to shape well rounded leaders

Connecting students with current leaders in business and politics, the club acts as a springboard to develop a career and follow Carnegie’s notion of maximising productivity in the earn stage of our life.

The third and final action in Carnegie’s philosophy of “learn, earn, return” is giving back to community and commit oneself to philanthropy.
